Look After Yourself

Treat yoself!

Even if the only thing you do today is treat yourself, that’s more than enough!

Remember, treating yourself doesn’t have to mean eating something unhealthy or spending money you can’t afford. We don’t need to go overboard to enjoy a little self-care.

For example, today I really wanted a brownie, but I knew if I ate it, I’d get a sugar rush and then crash. That would ruin my afternoon and make it hard to get anything done.

So here’s what I had instead of that warm, chewy, fudgy brownie. Honestly, part of me still wishes I’d gone for it, but I’m sticking with my healthy choice and want to share it with you.

A person with blonde hair, wearing a oversized t-shirt, is sitting on the floor and crying while holding their throat in distress.

While putting the brownie away, I remembered I had just bought chocolate granola from Trader Joe’s. I grabbed it from the pantry, filled a small container with yogurt, and sprinkled the granola on top.

So yeah, I’m feeling pretty good about me right now. I’m crash-free and ready to take on this weekend!

How I plan to look after myself this weekend and have a little fun

Tonight I’ll kick things off with a two-mile run, then come home, shower, and have some wine with my wonderful husband. Saturday is game day, so I’ll be yelling at the TV and in person. Saturday night will be full of dancing and laughter as my husband and I act silly on the dance floor. On Sunday, I’ll be back cheering for my daughter at her soccer game.

I’m ready to turn up and have a blast, and I hope y’all are too. We are all so fortunate to see another weekend; how lucky are we?

Your Turn

I’d love to hear how you’re taking care of yourself this weekend, so feel free to share every detail!

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

  1. DON’T SETTLE FOR LESS — NIGHT PRAYER..
Father, tonight we come before You with faith and expectation. We refuse to settle for what is below Your purpose for our lives. Give us the courage to walk away from anything that looks like an opportunity but is actually a distraction, anything that gives us temporary comfort but steals our destiny, and anything that requires us to compromise what You have called us to become.
Lord, deliver us from desperation that makes us accept less than Your will. When we are tired of waiting, remind us that delay is not denial. When the journey becomes difficult, strengthen our hearts. Give us discernment to recognize what is from You and courage to reject what is not. We will not exchange our destiny for temporary satisfaction. We will not trade purpose for applause, conviction for acceptance, or peace for temporary pleasure.

Father, let every wrong door that has consumed our time and energy lose its power over us. Close doors that are not aligned with Your purpose and open the doors You have ordained. Give us wisdom in relationships, opportunities, finances, ministry, career, and every decision concerning our future.

Tonight, we declare that we are not settling for less than obedience, less than purpose, less than peace, less than integrity, and less than the assignment You have placed upon our lives. Like Abraham, teach us to trust You even when we cannot see the destination. Like Joseph, help us remain faithful while we wait for the promise. Like David, teach us not to take shortcuts to the throne.
Lord, give us patience without passivity, ambition without pride, confidence without arrogance, and faith without compromise.

We reject every counterfeit that looks like the promise but carries the wrong spirit. We reject every relationship that pulls us away from You. We reject every opportunity that demands that we abandon our values. We reject every voice that tells us we are incapable of becoming what You have called us to be.

Your Word says, “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established” (Proverbs 16:3). Tonight, we surrender our plans, desires, relationships, dreams, and future into Your hands.

Father, restore everything we have lost through wrong decisions. Heal every disappointment that made us believe we should lower our standards. Renew our confidence in Your timing. Help us understand that sometimes “no” is protection, “wait” is preparation, and “not yet” is not the end of the story.

As we sleep tonight, give us divine peace. Let our minds rest from anxiety and comparison. We refuse to measure our lives against another person’s timeline. What You have ordained for us will come in Your appointed season.
    Tonight we declare:
    We will not settle.
    We will not compromise.
    We will not abandon purpose.
We will not give up because of delay.
We will not choose temporary pleasure over eternal purpose.
We will wait for God’s best while faithfully doing what He has called us to do.

Father, prepare us for what we are praying for. Build our character before You increase our capacity. Give us wisdom before elevation, maturity before influence, and humility before honour.
May tomorrow find us stronger, wiser, more discerning, and more determined than we were today.

Good evening dear friends and family 🙏🙏🙏🙏 have a blissful night and a blessed morning tomorrow.

  2. Good for you Bella!

I passed up a frosted cookie at PT today (they are celebrating an anniversary) and was so lucky that my ALOHA bar at lunch was delish!! It was chocolate fudge brownie flavor.

Im doing two workouts a day -Tai Chi in the am and Walking workouts in the pm.

My treat will probably be a Delta* drink while chilling on the patio with my hubby. Hopefully the hummingbirds will be active, they’re so fun to watch!

*Delta is a CBD/THC beverage legal in all states. It has less than .003% THC. I can’t hardly drink anymore, even my weekly Margarita was bothering me.

Have lots of fun this weekend!

  3. You plan sounds good to me. I won’t run, maybe walk though. We will treat ourselves with good food, music (my husband) and crocheting (me). Last winter I started a crocheting spree that is still ongoing. I love to create clothes and work with beautiful colours. At our age, treating ourselbes is a bit more sedate. 😉
    Enjoy yourself! ❤

  4. Wow! What a weekend. Larry and I are continuing repairs at the lake house. Today is the dock. So far, it’s not looking good but we’re trying. Tonight we have an event at one of the local wineries and then we’re going out to dinner! I might even wash my hair! Hugs, C

  5. I love this post, Bella! So full of gratitude and enjoying life! Your food choice looks good too, even though the brownie sounds delicious! 🙂 Last night, we enjoyed wine and dinner out. The rest of the weekend will be spent writing and doing things around the house. We’re going to sell next year, so we’re slowly purging and making improvements. Enjoy, and dance like non one is watching!

  6. Such an important and beautifully expressed reminder. Looking after ourselves is not selfish it gives us the strength, clarity, and energy to face life and be present for the people we care about. Sometimes the smallest acts of self-care can make the greatest difference. Thank you for this gentle encouragement to slow down, listen to ourselves, and make our well-being a priority. 🌿💙
