Over the past three years, I tried gardening, but at first, every plant I grew died. My fruits and vegetables just didn’t make it. I almost gave up and thought about quitting gardening for good.
But I gave it another shot the next year, lost a few more plants, and finally, this year, I got it right!
My tomatoes grew like crazy this year. I had so many that I had to start canning them. Honestly, I felt pretty grown-up as I made tomato sauce and labeled each jar with the date.
I can’t say I’ve perfected my sauce recipe yet, but it’s pretty close to fantastic. The best part is that it only takes seven ingredients: tomatoes, onions, basil, oregano, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Now, how easy is that?
Dinner should be fun and look pretty
Presentation matters! I want my family to feel like they’re eating at a fancy restaurant, so I use nice white plates I found at HomeGoods, and I absolutely love them. I also have small dishes that go straight from the oven to the table, so there’s no need to move food to another plate.
That’s exactly what I did for this baked ziti. I knew when my husband and daughter saw this cute meal, they’d smile and be ready to dig in.
Making Your Sauce
Heat up your pan and add Olive oil
- Add tomatoes to the pan (as many as you like)
- Dice one big onion and add to the pan
- Add salt and pepper, then turn down the heat and cover until the tomatoes are soft and you are able to smash them

Next Step
- Add basil and oregano to your sauce and stir and don’t forget to add a cup of heavy whipping cream
- If you want your sauce to be smooth, then blend the sauce and add it back to the pot
Baked Zitti (The meal shown in the pic)
Cook your noodles according to the package
Meatballs-

- 1 pound ground beef, Italian seasoning, breadcrumbs, and pepper
- Mix and make up to 20 meatballs
- Brown on both sides and add to your sauce
- Mix in your noodlesÂ
- Place finished product in your dish and cover with mozzarella
- Cover and bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes
Then ENJOY

That looks really delicious, Bella! I do add garlic to my tomato sauce though, otherwise I use the same ingredients as you do. Cream is a must to conquer my husband’s heart, haha.
