Only Fans…Is it worth the money and fame

What would you do for money and popularity?

During the pandemic, I noticed that there were a large number of only fans popping up on social media. People who were once YouTubers, Social Media influencers, and many more started new careers. The number of only fans increased from 10 million in 2010 to over 100 million as of January 2021.

Although there is money to be made in this line of work, I struggle to find if it is worth compromising your dignity for a few dollars. 

I imagine that there are levels to this field, and some account holders may not choose to bare all while others are taking every stitch of clothing off. And not only that, but because of the show “Catfish,” I know that account holders are engaging in sexual activity. Now here’s what blows my mind. You and everyone else can watch the account holders’ daily activities for pennies.

Once you place your content for all to see, anyone can do what they please with your photos or videos. 

Which means you are not collecting money for all the additional freebies. You also have zero control over the type of person viewing your content. And I don’t know if my age is showing, but I trust no one and would automatically assume a psycho pervert is the one viewing my content.

No amount of money is worth sacrificing your safety!!!

Not only is your safety at stake, but future job security, college acceptance, and many more critical stages in life will be in jeopardy. Furthermore, once you place videos or pictures on the internet for your “fans,” the footage is out for good! There is literally nothing you can do to recover it.

It is beyond me to think that anyone would sacrifice their future self for $4.99 per subscriber.

  2. I’ve never gone to Only Fans before so I can’t really speak on the site itself. It sucks though that people would ultimately be judged by colleges or future employers for making a living that way. I’m a huge hip hop fan and many of the songs from years past and now are putting tales of felonies to a catchy beat. They’re able to go on and endorse for billion dollar companies. It’s sad that women would be blackballed for showing their nipples or vulvas on the internet when that was the catalyst to Kim Kardashian’s career.

    I can’t speak to whether it is worth it or not, I live by a simple rule that I only do what my conscience can handle. That to say, it is a personal choice for the Only Fans performers. That said, it’s probably not worth it, because there is still a lot of free porn available if one so desires.

  3. Girl, we continue to shake our heads at how much we have lowered our standards. It’s like anything goes these days and no one ever thinks about the consequences that follow them for the rest of their lives for whatever exhibition they may engage in! SMH! 🙄 I’ve never visited OnlyFans but I do hope whether it’s safety or dignity that’s at risk, people will quickly think whether it’s worth the price they may have to pay in the long run. 😣

    1. The sad part about the only fans is children are on here and getting paid to bare all. They will do anything to get attention and approval from someone. I totally blame the parents for not going through their phone and laptop. If I paid for the technology then its mine and I will do random checkins!!

  5. I’ve never heard of Only Fans. The point you make is perfect. It would be so risky to put yourself out there like that, not to mention the future way it could influence your life. Thank you for sharing.

    1. I stay up on all the new platforms because I have kids that range from 12-20 and I need to know what to look out for. You never think you’re child will participate in foolishness but you never know! Thank you so much for reading 🙏🏽😍

  7. $4.99, Wow! That’s awful cheap. I don’t know what’s going on in so many people’s lives but usually when an uptick like this happens people are going financial difficulties. But still $4.99 is awful cheap.What are you supposed to be able to do with $5.00?
    Never heard of Fan Only but it doesn’t sound like a place young people could be.

    1. My thoughts exactly!!!! The thing is social media is playing with our youths self esteem. Some will do anything to get noticed especially if they are not getting attention at home from folks that truly love them and even then sometimes they need more attention. Then there are the women my age🤦🏽‍♀️ I have no words for them. But yes 5 bucks is at bit CHEAP!!!

  8. On one hand, I’m almost inclined to believe if people are dumb enough to pay for your underwear or bath water, then it’s their loss your gain.

    But then I think about it…. Our society has sunk to the point where people are desperate enough to buy such things. That’s pretty bad!

    2. People in Japan have been buying dirty panties for many years, out of vending machines and through the mail. I think the dirty panties things is weird, but it’s a turn on for some people.

      These kinks that people express have been there the whole time, there just hasn’t always been an “acceptable” outlet for it. I don’t think that is a sign that society is regressing or sinking. It points more towards people feeling more comfortable with publicly being who they have always been in private.

  9. yeah, Ok. I only got into writing asnd sharing stuff because I wanted to record the covid years as accurately and objectively as I could. It isnt done for fame, fortune, popularity, etc.
    This whole thing you mention about putting your whole life onto social media is something new to me, and comes across as both vainity and cheapness in the extreme

  12. I’ve heard of vanity publishing, but Only Fans seems like vanity porn to me. Blimey, I can’t imagine why someone would take such risks with their identity and wellbeing. I guess it’s just another sad sign of these digital times we now live in?

    1. Yes Grace I heard the same. I know some celebrities were playing video games on only fans and I just found out that you can cook. folks might think they are going to see something risque but what’s they pay their fee they see you making delicious recipes. LOL I love that!

  18. Personally, I would never join OnlyFans but I do kind of understand why people do. With the wages being so low, it’s hard for people to even survive so if you’re able to make thousands a day online some people are going to choose that. Also, I think people were always into weird kinks the internet just put it out there for everyone. And I totally get what you mean that they are jeopardising their futures by being on OF but I think it doesn’t affect them that much. Like I don’t think people who want to go to college or have a regular job are on there and if they are they don’t show their faces so it’s less of a risk. Have you heard about Feet Finder yet? That one is so weird too and genuinely creeps me out a bit.

    1. Pooja you are right on al accounts! It is a quick way to make a buck in this economy, where everything cost an arm and a leg. I just fear for some of this girls because there are some violent creepos out here that take things to far. Makes me sick how violent some people are.
      No, I’ve never heard of feet finder! I can’t even imagine some of the folks that are into feet.

      1. Yeah, most of the people on such sites are definitely creeps so I understand your worry. I truly hope those women are okay/safe too but I’m sure a lot of them experience stalking etc.
