~Saturday Fit Tip~MENTAL Fitness

I see you checked the box after you completed your challenging workout. Go you! But How are you doing mentally?

We can work towards getting the body of our dreams, but what are we really doing if we aren’t working on our mental health?

Our mental health is the most critical thing we can tackle. Taking care of ourselves starts from within. If I’m feeling my best, it’s because I’m putting time and effort into my mental state and not killing myself physically.

If your mental state isn’t where you feel it should be, then it doesn’t matter how many burpees you can do, how many miles you can run or walk, and it doesn’t matter how many pounds you can squat.

Once upon a time, a girl used the gym as therapy. She suffered from depression and felt like she wasn’t enough, so she stayed in the gym lifting, squatting, running, and sweating her worries out. But then she realized that when she left the gym, showered, and ate her post-workout meal, she was back feeling depressed.

Her workout was like putting a band-aid on an open womb that needed thousands of stitches.

Once I realized that I needed to deal with mental health, everything changed. I held on to anger, grief, pain, and hurt like it was my job. The thought of forgiving someone that bruised my feelings was thrown out the window just as quickly as it entered my mind.

My entire life was built on the thought that if you wronged me, you were dead to me, and I cut ties left and right. But there are always those select few people that live in your mind, and until you find a way to forgive them, they will continue to suck up your mental space and prevent you from finding happiness.

  1. Awesome Post! Love this! I absolutely Agree 💯💯 If we aren’t able to take care of ourselves Mentally, we are not capable of taking care of others. Alot of people feel as if self-care is selfish but in all reality, it’s not. Our mental Health is of utmost importance. Our brains and heart are the two Strongest muscles in the human body. If those two aren’t working 100%, then we aren’t our best. We must take care of ourselves before we do anything else
